Dr. John Kiang
Dr. John Kiang is our pediatric dentist and is thrilled to provide the highest level of dental care in a gentle and compassionate manner for your child. He believes that going to the dentist should be as enjoyable experience, so that each child will have positive life-long oral health.
Dr. Kiang earned his B.A. from Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT., a M.A. from Boston University School of Medicine, and obtained his D.M.D. from Boston University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Kiang completed an Advanced Education in Pediatric Dentistry residency in Providence, RI through NYU Lutheran Medical Center where he was selected to be the lead resident of the craniofacial program.
As a resident, Dr. Kiang was awarded the Chartercare Foundation Oral Health Scholarship and the American Cleft Palate Association Hauk Award. He received additional training at NYU Langone Medical Center, Department of Plastic Surgery, in cleft and craniofacial care. He is certified in nasoalveolar molding (NAM), a presurgical orthopedic appliance for babies with cleft lip and palate. His commitment to improving the health of infants, children and adolescents with disabilities led him to fellowship training through Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disorders program (LEND) where he is dedicated to incorporating a multidisciplinary approach to care for children and adults with special needs.
Dr. Kiang is an Attending Clinical Faculty at NYU Lutheran Medical Center-Providence, where he trains residents in all aspects Pediatric Dentistry. He is member of the medical staff at Fatima Hospital, Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children’s Hospital, where he serves on the Cleft and Craniofacial team.
Dr. Kiang is a board-eligible Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and serves as a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, American Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Association, Pierre Fauchard Academy Honor Society, Massachusetts Dental Society and Rhode Island Dental Association where he serves as guest on the Board of Trustees.
Additionally, Dr. Kiang is very active in the community through his volunteer work with the Mission of Mercy Free Dental Clinic, Ronald McDonald House, and public school reading initiatives. Dr. Kiang and his wife Cynthia have two wonderful girls, Carolina and Alessandra. Some of Dr. Kiang’s personal interests include spending time with his family, swimming, biking and running. He is a multiple Ironman finisher who is proud to say he has raised funds for various nonprofit organizations through racing.
